Having started out as a medieval calligraphy group, exploring the evolution of scripts and illumination in Western Europe, our activity morphed into discussions on what medieval illuminated manuscripts tell us about life in the middle ages. This has led us into wide ranging topics such as monastic life, witch hunts, books of hours, Hildegard of Bingen, chivalry, manuscript collectors. Interesting stuff!
